(New York, New York) August 26, 2022– At The New York International Salsa Congress (NYISC), one of the largest, and longest-running Latin dance and music events in the United States, social dancing joyously replaces social distancing, and differences that divide dissolve on the dance floor. After a two-year hiatus, thousands will convene to twirl across Manhattan’s largest ballroom at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square, September 2-4, 2022. For information visit www.newyorksalsacongress.com

Latin dance lovers from around the globe will have access to over sixty multi-level instructional workshops and boot camps. They’ll also enjoy youth and adult performances, live concerts, themed parties, cultural lessons, celebrity appearances, vendor booths via the Congress Mercado, and of course, social dancing.

In taking the lead to advance the art of salsa dance, NYISC partnered with The International Salsa Museum (ISM), a 501c cultural institute, to delight congress ticket holders and partners with a one-day pop-up experience on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from Noon until 7 PM. A private collection of artist works, visuals, and emotion-stirring relics will be displayed.

The career of Sony Music Latin recording artist Víctor Manuelle, mapping out his road from stardom to icon, culminating with his latest album, ‘Lado A Lado B’ ––a homage to the dichotomy of his artistry ––classic and experiential–– will get an exhibit spotlight.

Since his debut in 1993, Víctor Manuelle, singer-songwriter and producer has sold more than six million records worldwide. For his dedication to salsa education, Manuelle will be onsite to accept a David Melendez Lifetime Achievement recognition from Congress organizers and meet fans. Long-time friend, and collaborator, who’s explored the roots of Boogaloo with him, legendary choreographer and performer, Eddie Torres Sr., will also be honored.

The three-day festival features top DJs and musical performances. Superhuman music anomaly, Jose Alberto “El Canario” headlines and orchestras Avenida B, Congress All-Stars, and beloved NYPD band, La Jara will take the stage.

Yale University researcher, and Latin dance influencer, Freddy Ramirez will host a research-based talk on preventing cognitive degeneration and improving brain development through salsa dance. Alliances formed with the world-famous Broadway Dance Center, Fania Records,  The Maria Torres Emerging Artists Foundation, The Mercado Project, and the estate of salsa legend Tito Puente, will heighten the cultural experience.
