I Collective

This season in lei of a regular fashion show or presentation Dee + Co Group stepped outside the fashion week box. A presentation of Latino designers took place in the WH Design Showroom in Chelsea. Designers Adolfo Sanchez, Cenia Paredes, Terese Sydonna and Knitwear designer Milagros Batista presented curated collections. Models struck a pose in the store window as live mannequins, stopping tourists and locals alike. The models were coordinated with specific furniture pieces, showcasing both fashion and home design. A DJ, photobooth, cupcakes by Honor Thy Sweets and drinks by Plush Vodka filled the rooms atmosphere. While an extraordinary live performance by electric violinist Sarah Charness also held the rooms attention.

Mexican designer Adolfo Sanchez showcased pieces from his Nuevo Dia collection inspired by outer space and the belief that women should be anything they want to be. With his mixed media plastic dresses and princess like gowns, inspired by outer space you feel as though you can be a royal and rebel all in one. A goal of his to accomplish as he grows? To be a positive representation of the Latino community and showcase the talent it has. With NYC women loving his collection it’s safe to say that the designer originally with a L.A. based clientele is finding a solid footing in NYC.

Cenia New York showcased an archive collection of her gowns and cocktail dresses. Colorful, elegant, fun and made with women of all sizes in mind. This Dominican Republic native’s designs can be seen on tv, regularly worn by news anchors such as Katiria Soto of Univision. Not only does Cenia design gorgeous gowns but she also created the Convi Jean. A revolution for all curvy women, this innovative jean with zipper darts allow for an exact fit to the waist and hips. The veteran of catering to curvy women has been featured in Latina Magazine, People En Espanol, WWD and countless other press outlets.

Terese Sydonna showcased her original printed maxi skirts, crop tops and delicious bombers. This Jamaican native is not only talented in the field of fashion but in finance as well. While her background includes Goldman, Sachs & Co and Lehman Brothers she is just as creative as she is smart. Terese made her transition into the fashion world with the help of the incubator program at Macy’s. The collection showcased during ICollective included her ready-to-wear pieces that combines art and fashion. Though her one of a kind prints may seem like they belong in a museum Terese made all her designs machine washable. In total her collection checks all the boxes women need. Wearable, one of a kind, stylish and made for everyday life. What more can you ask from her? O yeah, and she’s a New York based designer!

Dominican designer Milagros Batista showcased her pieces from her Batista Collection. Feminine yet unique the pieces ranged in shades of pink and different knit techniques.

Special thanks go to creator of Glamazon Cosmetics and celebrity MUA Kim Baker. As well as hair stylist Stephanie Jones accompanied by the Studio TEN31 team. Thank you to Tramps designer hosiery for coordinating perfectly with the designer collections. Equal thanks go to the Sony 4K team and New York Life Insurance team for sponsoring the event. And finally thank you to the WH Design showroom and founder Warren Kay for making such a beautiful space accessible for this event.
